Frida The Label

Although Melbourne and Sydney seem to get most of the spotlight when it comes to Australian fashion, lately sleepy little Brisbane has been slowly making a name for itself with up-and-coming young designers and their fresh perspectives.

One such fresh face is emerging Brisbane label Frida, with their latest collection Bergen Co.
The collection, inspired by the British 'Teddy Boys' subculture, features plenty of playful and rebellious acid-wash denim, which I've totally fallen for.

I paired up with fellow Brisbane fashion freak Bri Lee of poiseonarrows for a fun filled shoot to show you some of our favourite pieces from the collection!

Bri went with the super cute acid wash denim 'Quinn Bralette', and I just couldn't resist the reversible denim 'Danny Boy Bucket Hat'.

The full Bergen Co. collection is available to buy online from Frida's online store, and is also stocked in Brisbane's Violent Green. Get your hands on some of these treasures before they disappear - we have a feeling Frida's going to be big!

Denim Decisions

I never thought I'd fall for a set of full-length denim overalls - as a certified shorty, It just wasn't on the cards (or so it seemed).

On my recent trip to Melbourne I paid a visit to one of my favourite vintage shops - Retrostar Vintage. They have such a huge range of hand picked secondhand treasures, it's a bit ridiculous.

As I was browsing I came across the dungarees section and thought I'd try out some of the high-waisted short variety, but many before me had undoubtably had the same idea so there was really only large or ill-fitting ones left. I thought I'd try my luck in the full-length section and search for a pair I could cut short - and I struck gold.  I happily purchased the perfect candidate for the chop but when I got back to the apartment and tried them on again I wasn't so sure. I couldn't do it. I felt about 99% dork while wearing them in all their full-length glory, but I kind of liked it. So full-length they've stayed (for now).
Should I make the chop?

OOTD: Inked

Soot Elroy Shorts Ink Print

I invested in these amazing SOOT. printed neoprene shorts a while ago at Marie Claire's James Street Up Late event, after falling in love with them at first sight. I'm obsessed with the intricate hand drawn 'Ink Print' that also features in several other pieces in SOOT.'s most recent collection 'Paperback', a number of which are currently on my wishlist. I definitely recommend checking out SOOT.'s website for more gorgeous pieces!

I teamed my SOOT. Elroy shorts with my favourite cropped Batman top by Lazy Oaf, my Oliver bag, and chelsea ankle boots from ASOS, and then threw on my thrifted oversize denim jacket to ward off the winter cold.
