Dress to Distress

Every since laying my eyes on the frayed masterpieces of brands like POC and Marques' Almeida, I've been on the look out for some distressed denim pieces to make my own. Since pieces by both the aforementioned brands can be very hard to get your hands on (at least within my price range), I've had to scour the internet to find a cheaper alternative to get my distressed denim fix.  

Given that finding jeans that fit is a near impossible task for me, and cut-off shorts are hardly groundbreaking, I went in search of frayed denim tops and dresses and found the perfect thing at Evan-Evina. The dress is a lightweight denim, almost chambray, which means it drapes nicely, is super comfy, and is the perfect playful dress! The edges were only slightly frayed but I tortured them a little more on the hem, and I'm thinking might have a second go to get a really shaggy trim!

Another new purchase along with the dress was my ridiculous but super fab camo platform sandals. These funky babies by YES had been on my wishlist for quite a while and I finally took the plunge and purchased them in a sneaky 24 hour Solestruck sale at 30% off!

I'm loving them so far, which is no surprise given my obsession with flatforms, although they are definitely a strictly flat surfaces only kind of shoe. I learnt that the hard way when I took a very embarrassing tumble down a pebbly hill at uni! eeek! 

(don't worry shoesies, I couldn't stay mad at you)

Candy Pants

Long shorts? Short longs? The name doesn't make a whole lot of sense but I love them anyway.

Shorts have always been a bit of a dilemma for me. I've never really been a fan of short shorts - showing off my thighs just isn't my thing, and I never really thought I could go for the longer kind given I'm ...vertically challenged.

Despite my height concerns, I couldn't resist these cotton candy coloured knee length shorts! So I took a chance on a little pastel perfection, and it was a sweet success!

I knew if I was going to make the long short look work I was going to need some serious leg lengtheners on my feet. I spied these gorgeous Miista mint sandals on sale on Solestruck and just knew they were the perfect match. Height boosting platform and heel, with with a skinny flash of skin all the way down the front for a slim and long look! They're uber comfy and a lil funky too, which gets me every time.





I teamed my candy coloured newbies with an old favourite - my batman crop, for a little edge, and buckled up with a cute little kitty cat belt. Meow!

All Time

It's no secret I like a little fun in my outfits, so when I got my first in-person peek at the new House of Cards AW14 collection, I was practically overjoyed. 

The "All Time" collection features plenty of wide kimono style sleeves, boxy pleats, and fun basketball themed prints, all amongst a colour scheme heavy in blues and pale pinks!

My first purchase from the collection (yes, I am confident there will be more), was the playful "dream team" crop. How could I resist those wide sleeves, a drawstring, AND a fun pocket?

Since the kimono sleeves got me feeling all Japanesey, I decided to pair it with my paper crane earrings and throw in some peace signs for good measure.
